The benefits of drinking wine have been known for millennia as has the consequences of overindulgence.

 

(The first recorded hangover in history belongs to Noah who was also the first winemaker!)

 

There is ample sound evidence to suggest that drinking moderate amounts of wine with food is better for you than not drinking at all. Apart from which the food tastes better and so does the wine.

It is not my intention to go into great detail here but I would recommend Professor RogerCorder’s book ‘The Wine Diet’ (see Books).

 

I am very sceptical about so called ‘scientific’ evidence concerning diet and alcohol which often changes and is subject to political expediency. However, Professor Corder’s book seems to pass the twin tests of reliable science and common sense.

Wine drunk in moderation, the tricky bit, is without doubt good both for heart and soul.
